Interview with the scintillating band TWOFEW

TWOFEW

Just Fame recently got a chance to interview TWOFEW in regard to their upcoming show at Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood. We got insights into their new album Lovestruck, updates about new projects and much more!

Q. First of all it is great to have you on Just Fame once again and congratulations on your upcoming show at Iconic Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood! We’re excited to delve into it shortly, but first, we’d love to learn more about your new album Lovestruck.

A: It’s fantastic to be back on Just Fame! And thank you, we’re beyond thrilled about the upcoming Whisky a Go Go show.

As for “Lovestruck,” we poured our hearts and souls into this album. It’s a musical journey that fuses those classic rock influences we grew up with – think Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones – with our own distinct sound. We wanted to capture that raw energy and passion of the past while still keeping it fresh and modern. It’s a mix of bluesy riffs, powerful vocals, and driving rhythms that we hope will resonate with both longtime fans and new listeners alike.

Plus, we’ve got some exciting surprises in store. We collaborated with the incredibly talented Houston rapper, Dues Lee, on a few tracks, adding a whole new dimension to our sound. We can’t wait for everyone to hear what we’ve created!

Q. Kindly share the process you followed while working on the album.

A: For “Lovestruck,” we really wanted to capture a retro feel inspired by some of our favorite rock artists from the 60s and 70s. Bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones were definitely big influences. However, it was equally important for us to keep the sound modern and true to the TWOFEW vibe. We spent a lot of time experimenting with vintage gear and recording techniques to get that classic warmth and grit, but we also weren’t afraid to layer in some contemporary elements to give it a fresh edge. It was all about finding that perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation.

Q. How does this album differ from your previous releases such as Lips Blue in terms of sound, style, or creative process?

A: “Lovestruck” is a bit of a departure for us. While we’ve always stayed true to our roots, this album takes a leap into a more retro-inspired rock sound, drawing from those legendary bands of the 60s and 70s. But don’t worry, we’ve kept things fresh by blending those vintage vibes with a modern edge.

We really pushed ourselves creatively on this one. We dug into vintage gear and recording techniques to get that classic warmth, but we also weren’t afraid to play with contemporary sounds to give it a unique flavor. It was a fun challenge to marry those contrasting influences, and we’re stoked about how it turned out.

Plus, we’ve got an awesome collaboration with Houston rapper Dues Lee on the lead single and a couple of bonus tracks. His energy adds a whole new dimension to the album.

Overall, “Lovestruck” is a snapshot of where we are now as a band – it’s a fresh sound while still holding onto what makes us TWOFEW. We’re so excited for everyone to hear it!

Q. Is there a particular track on the album that you’re especially excited for fans to hear? Can you share the story behind it?

A: Absolutely! The title track, “Lovestruck,” is one we’re particularly excited for fans to hear. It’s a perfect blend of blues, rock, and classic rock elements that have become a signature part of our sound.

This song holds a special place in our hearts because it captures the essence of the album’s theme. It’s about that feeling of being completely head over heels for someone, that rush of emotions and excitement that comes with falling in love. We poured our hearts and souls into this track, and we think it really showcases the raw energy and passion that TWOFEW is all about. We can’t wait for everyone to experience it!

Q. Were there any specific challenges or breakthroughs you encountered while recording this album?

A: Recording “Lovestruck” definitely had its share of challenges, but we also experienced some incredible breakthroughs along the way. One major hurdle was figuring out the logistics of featuring Dues Lee on the album. Once we decided to include him, we had to navigate the complexities of getting him from Houston to our studio to record his parts, and then out to LA for his debut performance at the Whisky. It took some serious coordination and planning, but we made it happen!

This experience taught us the importance of flexibility and resourcefulness. We learned to adapt to unexpected situations and find creative solutions to overcome obstacles. It was definitely a challenge, but it also brought us closer as a band and strengthened our determination to make “Lovestruck” the best it could be. And having Dues Lee’s incredible talent on the album made it all worthwhile!

Q. Performing at such an iconic venue in Hollywood is a big moment for any artist. How does it feel to be taking the stage there, and what does it mean to you as a band?

A: Performing at the Whisky a Go Go is an absolute dream come true! It’s not just any venue; it’s a legendary stage where countless iconic artists have made their mark. For us, it’s especially meaningful because it’s actually the second time my brother David and I will be playing there. We had the opportunity to perform there 20 years ago to the date, and it’s incredible to be returning now with TWOFEW.

To close our set with the same song we did back then, “Room 112” from our third record, feels like a full-circle moment. It’s a testament to our journey as musicians and the enduring power of music to connect us across time. We couldn’t be more excited to share this special experience with our fans and create some new memories at this iconic venue.

Q. Do you have anything special planned for this show—surprises for fans, setlist exclusives, or unique visuals?

A: This show is going to be a full-on rock and roll experience, and we’ve got a few surprises in store for the fans. We’re thrilled to announce that Dues Lee will be joining us on stage for a special performance of “Stars Burned Out” towards the end of the set. It’s going to be an electrifying moment, and we can’t wait to see the crowd’s reaction.

Beyond that, we’re keeping the rest of the setlist under wraps, but expect a mix of classic TWOFEW favorites and some brand-new tracks from “Lovestruck.” We’re also excited to have several film crews and industry influencers in attendance, so there’s definitely a buzz in the air. It’s going to be a night to remember, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone who’s been a part of our journey.

Q. What are your plans for 2025? Can you tell us about any upcoming concerts that fans and music lovers should be excited about?

A: 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for us! We have some fantastic live shows coming up that we can’t wait to share with our fans:

November 2nd: We’ll be rocking out at the Burro Saloon for a special 3 set show.
November 8th: Catch us live at the Spirit Room with Son of Mars.
December 14th: We’ll be streaming the XMA Awards live from Chicago, so tune in for that!
New Year’s Eve: We’re working on a possible show to ring in the new year, so stay tuned for more details on that.

But that’s not all! We’re also incredibly excited to announce that we’ll be heading back to Nashville in early January to start recording our third album. We’ve been working hard on new material, and we can’t wait to get into the studio and bring these songs to life.

We’re feeling incredibly inspired and energized right now, and we’re so grateful for the support of our amazing fans. We can’t wait to see what 2025 holds!

Q. Any hints for our readers about any upcoming collaboration or new projects that you are working on?

A: While we can’t spill all the beans just yet, we’re thrilled to share that our upcoming albums, both record 2 and 3, will feature some exciting collaborations with our talented friend Dues Lee on select tracks. His unique style and lyrical flow will add a whole new dimension to our music, and we can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve been cooking up together. Keep your ears peeled for more updates and sneak peeks in the coming months!

Q. Lastly, as we ask all our guests on our platform, do you have any closing thoughts that you would like to share with the world and our readers?

In closing, we want to express our immense gratitude to all our fans and supporters. We can’t wait to rock these upcoming shows for you and share the music we’ve been pouring our hearts into. “Lovestruck” is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter for TWOFEW, and we’re thrilled to have you along for the ride.

Stay tuned for more updates from TWOFEW Land, including news about our third album and other exciting projects on the horizon. We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
