Just Fame got a chance to interview artist Kate Gala. We got insights into her music, the creative process she follows and much more!
Q. First of all, welcome! It is wonderful to have you on our platform. How are you doing?
Kate Gala: I’m doing great thank you for asking! Excited to be here!
Q. Your latest single Summer in October is wonderful! Please share with us how did you come across the idea for this single?
Kate Gala: So I wish there was more of an interesting backstory, but I was writing the lyrics with a summer music festival in mind, and Coachella had just been postponed to October. So I figured, why not have summer in October?
Q. What exactly is the creative process that you follow while making your music?
Kate Gala: I typically try to think of a hook that listeners can relate to. For Summer in October, I really tried to channel a carefree sound.
Q. What is art according to you?
Kate Gala: To me, art is whatever resonates with you. Anything that evokes an emotion or inspires. I view art as something with a message or a story to tell.
Q. Who has been a major influence in your life?
Kate Gala: So weird and corny, but my dog. She reminds me to not worry about the past or future, and just enjoy and make the most of the moment. I mean, she gets so excited about the little stuff like chasing butterflies or going for walks. It’s contagious!
Q. Who are your 3 favorite artists and why?
Kate Gala: I’ve been a fan of Taylor Swift since I heard Mary’s Song back in 2008. Ever since I’ve looked up to her for her style and songwriting. I also have always loved the Beatles, especially after Across the Universe came out. Great film!
Q. Any tips or advice for young aspiring artists?
Kate Gala: Keep trying. And make sure you are doing it for you, so you don’t look for outside validation.
Q. What lies ahead for you in the coming years? What next? Any collaboration plans with other artists?
Kate Gala: I have two new covers coming out in July. An electronic cover of Iris (by the Goo Goo Dolls) and a stripped down version of Running Up That Hill. Huge Stranger things fan.
After that, I have two originals coming with two other artists.
Q. Lastly, do you have any closing thoughts that you would like to share with the world and our readers?
Kate Gala: Feel free to message me on Instagram or YouTube. I’d love to connect or collaborate with you all!
