Rosa Ramírez

Just Fame recently got a chance to interview artist Rosa Ramírez in regard to her short film “Once, In Palm Springs”, upcoming projects and much more!

Can you describe the feeling of earning your Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting and returning to the stage at Zombie Joe’s Theater?

Earning my BFA was one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve had thus far, holding my degree after all the work I put into my education and development as an artist was truly incredible and getting to share the experience with my peers, some with who I started with back in 2019, added even more excitement to the whole experience.. Being able to go back on the stage after a few months of graduating was such a rewarding feeling. It was my first gig as a professional and I made sure to treat it with all the love, dedication and respect I had to give. It was such a fun, supportive and comfortable environment to be in, as we were all looking for the same thing in the midst of the strike, to perform. I am eternally grateful to those who were a part of the show, behind and on stage and I look forward to auditioning for future projects.

Tell us about your role in the short film “Once, In Palm Springs” and the inspiration behind producing it.

I had auditioned for the role of Mia back in November and I remember feeling so connected to the character even before I got it. The description of the character felt as if I had already known this person, she was a confident, passionate, loving and kind human being. Mia was someone that I loved to get to know and portray for this film because of her love for life and her honesty. She is someone that had gone through abandonment, loss, trauma and sickness, and yet she was ready for more, ready to keep fighting in order to get what she wanted out of life, which was such an honorable trait this character had.

The whole process of filming was truly unique, the creative freedom I was given when it came to my character and the project was something that made me love this craft even more. It felt so fulfilling to be able to collaborate with such an amazing artist such as Giovanni Doray who not only produced the film but wrote, starred and directed it. The inspiration behind producing it comes from the connection I made with the project and the talented mind behind it, it was an amazing experience to work alongside someone who loves this craft as much as I do and we are really looking forward to this upcoming festival season, as we have high hopes for “Once, In Palm Springs”.

What was it like to be part of a commercial celebrating the centennial of the iconic Chinese Theatre?

Being part of a commercial celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Theatre, especially one made for International Women’s Day, was an incredible experience. It was not only a celebration of the historic landmark that the theater is, but also an opportunity to honor the contributions and achievements of women in the film industry. The commercial highlighted the theater’s legacy and its role in Hollywood’s history, while also emphasizing the importance of women in the industry. Being a part of such a project felt meaningful and inspiring, especially since it was for such an important day.

“Murder at Memory Manor” sounds intriguing. What drew you to this project, and how was the experience of collaborating with Maddie Zambello?

The project’s blend of whimsy and brilliance drew me to it. I have always felt comfortable in natural performances and realistic settings, but I wanted to challenge myself. This project was unlike anything I had done before; it was unique. It pushed my imagination to places I hadn’t explored prior to working on this show. Stepping away from realism was incredibly refreshing for me, and I found the experience very rewarding.

Working with Maddie was a great experience, we had worked together as classmates, so being able to do the same as professionals was wonderful to say the least. It made me realize how much fun it is to work with people who have such clear visions of what they want and how to get there such as Maddie, and it was a pleasure to become the Blossom she envisioned. It was an extravagant, physical, comedic and absolutely brilliant show thanks to every single person that was a part of it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Beyond acting, you also direct and write. How do these roles complement your work as an actor?

Writing helps me get a deeper understanding of characters and stories, which really impacts how I approach acting. When I write, I get to decide how all the pieces fit together, and I bring that same mindset into my performances. I focus on the intention behind every action, making sure everything I do has a purpose.

I haven’t directed in a while, but doing it in the past has given me a broader view of acting. It made me realize just how much work goes into a production, how important attention to detail is and how necessary collaboration is in such environments. Both writing and directing give me fresh insights that make me a better actor and help me keep growing in my craft.

What is the central theme of your current short film project, and what personal experiences inspired it?

The central theme of my current short film project is appreciating where you are in life and finding peace even when things aren’t going your way. It’s about embracing the unknown and staying present. I’ve always been inspired by the mundane and the little things in life. I think a lot of us, especially young people, get caught up in the hustle and overstimulation, and we miss out on what’s right in front of us.

Personally, I’ve always been afraid of the future and the uncertainty it brings. But over time, I’ve learned to turn that fear into inspiration and excitement. My project is about realizing that life is happening now and that doing a little bit each day is enough. It’s about not getting bogged down by negativity when you can’t see a clear path because things eventually clear up. This perspective comes from my own experiences and seeing how things have unfolded in my life.

How do you maintain a balance between your personal life and the demands of your artistic career?

Maintaining balance between my personal life and the demands of my artistic career is crucial for my overall well being. One way I achieve this balance is by setting boundaries and prioritizing self care. I make sure to make time to dedicate to family, friends, and the activities that bring me joy outside of acting.

Additionally, time management and organization play a significant role. I strive to plan ahead, schedule commitments with time, for both work and the things that bring me pleasure in life. This helps me prevent burnout and allows me to be fully present in both aspects of my life. Ultimately, finding balance is an ongoing process, and I remain open and flexible as circumstances show up. By prioritizing self care, effective time management, and open communication, I can maintain harmony between my personal life and artistic career.
