Today we’re excited and proud to feature the multi-talented DJ-turned-producer DJ Smo aka. Johnny Bravo of the infamous Jugglerz Crew. The craziest DJ in the Dancehall Scene, traveling to Jamaica as often as possible, living the life of the young and reckless.
His mind is saturated with music, his mixtapes run the streets. When he’s on set he takes you straight to Kingston or New York – or wherever the f*** the turn up is!
As a proud member of Germany’s world famous Jugglerz Sound, he is heard and seen on many stages all over the world. And besides his work on stage, Smo is also constantly busy in the studio, being responsible for countless dancehall smash hits – like ‘Bruck It’ by Spice or ‘Good P***y Gyal Fi Get Tings’ by Gage. Smo is constantly working on new projects, always expressing his love for dancehall music and culture. Early this year Smo has announced the release of his debut EP as a solo producer. The EP, that he refers to as a Mixtape, will feature a variety of well-known artists, but also shine a light on some up-and-coming talent from Kingston Jamaica. Collaborations with Grammy-nominated artist Beam or Trinidadian shooting star Boy Boy are just some of the bangers Smo announced to have on the Mixtape.
Having reached all type of levels of success with his Crew Jugglerz, this solo project was the next logical step for Smo, who emphasizes he still is working with Jugglerz every day;
“We’re like the Wu Tang Clan.. we all got our own little adventures going, but if we all in the same room at the same time.. you know it’s fire!”
Kicking and punching drums, unique drum patterns, dirty 808s but a clean overall sound – that’s what Smo’s productions stands for.
Besides working for the greats of dancehall Smo has also been dipping his toes in the German Rap game lately, supplying beats and producing for heavyweight artists such as Veysel, Zuna, or Ardian Bujupi – but also working on collaborations with up and coming newcomer artists from Germany like 2lade, Benzko or Jerome. By launching his personal Spotify profile in 2022 Smo is trying to show everyone he is ready to reach new heights, create waves, spread vibes and make a name for himself. The first release on his profile is a Remix of his long-time friend Cali P‘s song ‘Girlfriend’, originally produced by Teka – and it’s a bomb! A heavy UK-Afro-Dancehall hybrid that’s ready to mash up any ‘bashment’ – or simply blast it in your living room or car! Vibes!
