Angelisha Pettway Graham

Just Fame recently got a chance to interview Angelisha Pettway Graham. We got insights into her book, her source of inspiration and much more!

Q. Welcome! How are you doing?

Thank you for having me. I’m doing great and I’m excited to share more about my newest book, Christian Says Sorry. It’s always rewarding to connect with readers and talk about the stories and projects I’m passionate about. This book is a little different from some of my previous work, so I’m especially excited to discuss it.

Q. Your new book Christian Says Sorry is now available on Amazon. Please tell us about your amazing book.

Christian Says Sorry is a children’s book for ages 4 to 7 that focuses on accountability, empathy, and the importance of taking responsibility for our actions. The story follows Christian, a young boy who makes a mistake that hurts someone else’s feelings. He knows what he did was wrong, but he struggles with admitting it and saying those two important words: “I’m sorry.”

I wanted to write a story that children could relate to because apologizing isn’t always easy. Sometimes children know they should apologize, but pride, embarrassment, or frustration can get in the way. Through Christian’s journey, readers learn that making mistakes is a part of life, but having the courage to own those mistakes and make things right is what truly matters.

As an author, I enjoy creating books that entertain while also teaching meaningful life lessons, and I hope this story sparks important conversations between children, parents, and educators.

Q. Any words of advice for aspiring children’s book writers?

My advice would be to write stories that children can see themselves in. Children connect with characters who experience real emotions and everyday situations. Focus on creating meaningful messages while keeping the story fun and engaging.

I would also encourage aspiring authors to keep writing and not let fear or perfectionism stop them. Every book starts with an idea. The most important thing is taking that first step and staying committed to the process.

Q. Who is your favorite author and why?

My favorite children’s book author is Eric Carle. I’ve always admired his ability to teach important lessons through simple storytelling and memorable illustrations. His books have entertained and educated generations of children, and I appreciate how he made reading fun while encouraging imagination and curiosity.

As a children’s book author, I find inspiration in the way he connected with young readers through stories that were both engaging and meaningful.

Q. What’s next? Which book are you working on now?

While Christian Says Sorry is my first children’s book, I have published a variety of other projects, including journals, coloring books, activity books, and fiction novels. I enjoy exploring different types of publishing because each format allows me to connect with readers in a unique way.

Currently, I’m working on a new fiction project. Fiction has always been a passion of mine, and I enjoy creating stories that explore relationships, personal growth, and life’s unexpected challenges. I’m excited to continue expanding my catalog and reaching readers across multiple genres.

Q. Finally, as we ask all our guests, do you have any closing thoughts that you would like to share with the world and our readers?

I believe that books have the power to educate, inspire, entertain, and bring people together. Whether it’s a children’s book, a journal, a coloring book, or a novel, every book has the opportunity to make a positive impact on someone’s life.

I also want to encourage aspiring authors to believe in themselves and keep pursuing their goals. Your story matters, and there is room for your voice in the literary world. Thank you to everyone who has supported my journey, and I hope Christian Says Sorry encourages children to understand that mistakes happen, but taking responsibility for them is an important part of growing into kind and compassionate individuals.
