Check out this exclusive interview with Marie Solimena.

Q. Hi Marie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

I was born and raised in Genova, Italy. I decided to move to the US right after high school in 2017. I firstly lived in New York – for one year – and then I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my acting career. I’ve been working on short films, one feature, music videos, web series, and theatre plays. Being a young actress during the pandemic has been kind of hard, but I learned a lot from and it has been going pretty great regardless.

Q. Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

It hasn’t been easy a lot, but my drive to do what I love and achieve my purpose gave me the strength to never give up. Even moving to a whole different country, far away from my family, at a very young age, hasn’t been easy and I suffered from it both physically and mentally, but I know what I need to do in my life and I’m doing everything that it takes in order to achieve it.

Q. As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers, can you tell them what you do?

I’m an actress. You can see me perform in some shorts that has been presented to international festivals such as L.A.F.A. directed by Miraj Grbic, Talking About You directed by Daniel Padrilla, Mia directed by Gabriel Alencar, and many more. I’ve also worked on some music videos, such as Is Hot! Lil Cherry & GoldBudda (ft for YBN Nahmir) directed by Evan Aparacio. I’m now working on a feature called Believe directed by Fred Copeland that will air on AmazonPrime next year!

Q. Can you talk to us about the role of “luck”?

Yes, I believe luck is necessary in this industry, but not only that, as Denzel Washington says “Luck is the skill of putting yourself in advantageous situations”. You have to keep working and pushing in order to find your time and therefore your luck.
