TommyG’s Next Acts Begin in New York City

What were you doing at 13? Riding your bike around the neighborhood? Maybe waiting for school to let out so you could play video games all summer? Well, for TommyG—a Katy, Texas native with pipes and passion—this summer is shaping up to be something straight out of a coming-of-age movie montage.

First up: New York City. That’s right. TommyG, born Thomas Ramirez, is heading to the Big Apple this June after landing a coveted spot at the Musical Theater Summer Intensive at the world-renowned Joffrey Ballet School. If that name rings a bell, it’s because Joffrey has been training top-tier dancers, singers, and actors for decades, and their summer program is no joke. We’re talking Broadway-level choreography, acting workshops, vocal training, and the kind of experience that transforms talent into future stars.

TommyG didn’t just walk into this opportunity—he earned it. After a competitive audition, he was selected to join other rising young performers for serious work (and serious fun). Each week of the program will be inspired by Broadway hits like The Lion King and Wicked. From belting high notes to nailing tricky footwork, TommyG is about to be deep into the world of stage lights and show tunes.

And just when you think his summer couldn’t get more stacked, July rolls around.

Hot on the heels of his Joffrey experience, TommyG will be sticking around NYC for another major milestone: he’s been chosen as a member of the global band performing at the 4th Annual Come Together Festival hosted by Kids Rock for Kids (KRFK). The festival runs from July 6th to July 13th and features young talent from around the world. KRFK hasn’t revealed the full band lineup yet (that’s still under wraps), but what we can say is this: TommyG is part of something big. It’s a rare and exciting chance to connect with fellow young artists and perform for a global audience in the heart of NYC.

TommyG credits a few key people for shaping his musical path. “My dad helped me a lot with my career,” he says. “My singing teachers taught me everything I know. But it was really my sister who inspired me to start. She would always sing in the car, and that’s when I realized this is what I want to do.”

In fact, fans have already got a taste of what TommyG can bring to the table. His original single, Good Life Lovin’, released in July 2024, is a sun-drenched pop anthem that captures the feeling of carefree summer days, crushes, and music blasting into the night. “The inspiration was about being with the people that mean the most to you and feeling excited for the future,” he says. With lyrics like “Don’t worry ’bout nothing, it’s just another day / We’re good life lovin’ and we’re living our own way…” The track gives major feel-good vibes with a side of teen spirit.

Earlier in 2024, he also dropped the music video for SIO, where he gets raw and introspective with lines like “Leave me if you want, I’ll be fine over here…” — proving he’s not just about the upbeat stuff; there’s emotional depth there too.

And if you’re in Texas this summer, TommyG will be singing at a few Texas Opry events in Alvin, interpreting country staples like Vince Gill’s Liza Jane and Chris Stapleton’s Tennessee Whiskey. The kid’s got range. This summer will definitely be a game-changer for TommyG. Between Broadway training, NYC stages, and hometown shows, he’s building something real—and fast. He may only be 13, but with the drive he’s showing now, it’s clear he’s not just chasing a dream—he’s already on the path to living it.
