Featured: Rising Up Like The Sun U.K. Artist Dar.Ra Hits A Belter Home Run!

Just Fame features the wonderful and incredible artist Dar.Ra!

London-based artist Dar.Ra has released the Latin Rock song “Rise Like The Sun: UK Sunshine Mix (Kusha Deep Remaster).” The song, running at nearly six minutes long, gives listeners an experience full of powerful lyrics, well-orchestrated instrumentation, and flawless production. Additionally, Dar.Ra has released a lyric video so that listeners can immediately grasp the meaning of the song.

“Rise Like The Sun” begins with the sound of loud horns and guitars. Listeners will get the sense that it is an energetic song. In the lyric video, this is accompanied by a circle meant to resemble the sun, surrounded by red dots among a black background, meant to resemble space. The connection between the sun and the song is made immediately, with the first lyric being “I want to rise like the sun and hold back for no one.” At this point of the song, Dar.Ra seemingly wants to be a powerful person, someone who accepts himself for who he is and does not change for the sake of his image. This is a message that many may need to hear, no matter who they are.

However, listeners will soon figure out that Dar.Ra is having trouble with this narrative. In the first verse, he sings “I’m the only one ever hears these screams inside.” In the second verse, he sings “You think you’ve got all the time in the world/And then you get born.”

The latter lyric is perhaps the most memorable lyric in the entire song through its thought-provoking message.

While a listener cannot be completely sure on what this lyric means, one interpretation is that Dar.Ra is using the word ‘born’ to mean he had a spiritual awakening, or that he is simply rethinking the way his life has been handled. Dar.Ra also sings that he’s been “down in the dirt and the dust/Trying to sound up the band and dance like there’s no tomorrow.” In other words, he wants to feel better than he does. At the very end of the song, he sings “I’ll pray and rise like the sun/and be somebody in your eyes.” This changes the narrative set at the beginning of the song. He is now revealing that he indeed does care about what someone else, or perhaps many other people, think of him.

Dar. Ra’s ability to self-reflect in this song is not only brave but also gifts listeners with a true sense of his thought process. The emotional sentient of his voice allows the lyrics to thrive, while close attention is given to the mixture of horns, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and drums in the post-chorus instrumentals. Such an instrumental fits in perfectly with the melody of the vocals.
